An original oil pastel painting by Lori Brunner from Love Letter to La Jolla, a series inspired by the life, light and visual language of Southern California.

Points of View—Orange explores perspective through shape, color and repetition. Familiar forms are abstracted and reimagined, inviting the eye to move across the composition and discover relationships that shift depending on how—and from where—the work is viewed.

The saturated orange gives this piece a particular warmth and energy, recalling the sun-washed colors and unexpected visual moments of life along the Southern California coast. Yet, like the larger Love Letter to La Jolla collection, the work isn't intended as a literal depiction of place. Instead, color and form become a memory of it.

The title, Points of View, speaks to the idea of looking again—of discovering something new in the familiar simply by changing one's perspective. It is an idea that runs through Lori's work as both an artist and designer: how we see can be as important as what we see.

Created in oil pastel, the painting retains the immediacy of the artist's hand. Texture, variation and subtle imperfections bring an expressive quality to the otherwise graphic composition.

Points of View—Orange is one of three original works in the Points of View series, each available individually. While designed to stand beautifully on its own, it can also be collected with the other two works and displayed as a series—creating a larger conversation of color, repetition and shifting perspective.
