An original acrylic painting by Lori Brunner from Love Letter to La Jolla, a series inspired by the life, light and visual language of Southern California.

Orange Surfboards takes one of the most familiar symbols of coastal life and reduces it to its essential elements—shape, color and repetition. The surfboard forms become almost graphic, allowing the vibrant orange palette and simplified composition to give the work its energy.

There is a playful confidence to the painting, but also a sense of restraint. Rather than illustrating the beach literally, it offers a small visual memory of life near the Pacific—the boards, the color, the sun and the everyday presence of surf culture in La Jolla.

At 20 × 16 inches, Orange Surfboards is one of the more intimate works in the collection. Its smaller scale gives it a quieter presence, inviting discovery rather than demanding attention.

The original is currently presented in a guest room, alongside Tide Pools. Together, the two works create a subtle dialogue—small moments of color and coastal reference within the larger interior.

Presented in a solid maple float frame, the natural wood gives the painting a clean, architectural finish while allowing the expressive quality of the artwork to remain the focus.
